Cookie Statement

Below we explain which cookies we use on our website, as well as for which purposes. After all, what's the use of a website without cookies? ;)

What's a cookie?

Almost all websites use cookies. These are small information files that your computer, mobile device, or web browser stores when you use such a website. Cookies can store information such as your IP address, the unique ID of the device you use to visit the website or another identifier, the browser you use, and information about the content you view.

Many cookies ensure that you can use a website effectively. For example, thanks to cookies, you do not have to log in repeatedly or download the same information every time you revisit a website. Other cookies help us see how a website is being used.

Cookies are divided into “first-party” and “third-party” cookies:

  • First-party cookies are the cookies placed by the website you are visiting—in our case, that is helloworld.eu.

  • Third-party cookies are cookies placed on our website by reliable partners we work with, such as analytics providers.

In addition to cookies, our website may use techniques that are very similar, such as pixels and local storage. We refer to all of these technologies collectively as “cookies” hereafter.

Why do we use cookies?

Good question! And the answer is simple. We use cookies to make your experience on helloworld.eu as easy and pleasant as possible. Additionally, we want to understand how our website is used so we can keep improving it for you.

Without functional cookies, for example, our website would behave as if you were visiting for the first time every single time. Furthermore, analytical cookies allow us to see what we need to do to improve the website.

Functional cookies

Functional (“necessary”) cookies are required for the website to work properly and to adapt to your preferences. Functional cookies ensure, for example, that:

  • Your cookie preferences are saved, so you do not have to indicate them every time you visit;

  • The website functions smoothly and remains accessible.

Advertising cookies

At this time, no advertising cookies are placed on this website. Should this change in the future, we will update this Cookie Statement and ask for your permission first.

Which cookies do we use?

We use two varieties of cookies on this website.

Functional cookies Functional cookies (also known as “necessary cookies”) ensure that our website works properly. These types of cookies help, for example, to remember your cookie preferences.

Analytical cookies We use analytical cookies to collect statistics about the use of helloworld.eu. This allows us to see, for instance, which pages are the most popular and enables us to continuously improve the website for you.

We do not currently place any advertising cookies — see “Advertising cookies” above.

Further on, we provide a more detailed explanation of what these types of cookies do and what they mean for you. In the Cookie Table below, you will find an overview of all the cookies we place.

Where do these cookies come from?

We place our own cookies, which are used exclusively by us. Third-party cookies are also placed via our website. The use of these cookies by those third parties is subject to their own privacy and cookie policies. An overview of these third parties and their privacy and cookie statements can be found here:

Analytical cookies

Analytical cookies provide us with insight into the usage of our website. We use this information to improve our website and services. For this purpose, we use Google Analytics.

Google Analytics primarily measures and reports on visitor numbers to our website, how much time each visitor spends on our web pages, and which pages a visitor visits. In short, these cookies are used to generate and analyze web statistics (hence the name). To do this, Google Analytics stores the following data, among other things:

  • A randomly generated identifier used to recognise you as a unique visitor;

  • The number of pages you view, and how often you return.

If you’d rather not be tracked by Google Analytics at all, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

You are the boss

We may want to arrange everything perfectly for you, but ultimately, you are in charge of your own cookie preferences.

If you no longer want websites to place cookies on your computer, mobile device, or web browser at all, you can adjust your browser settings so that you receive a warning before cookies are placed. Furthermore, you can adjust your settings so that your browser refuses all cookies or only specific ones. You can also delete cookies that have already been placed.

The process for adjusting settings and deleting cookies varies by browser. To make things a bit easier for you, below you will find a link for each browser to the step-by-step guide on how to do this:

Our website works just fine if you choose not to allow any non-essential cookies.

One last thing

It is very likely that we will have to change our cookie statement from time to time. For example, if we update our website or if the regulations surrounding cookies change. If we change our statement, you will always find the latest version by visiting our cookie statement via our website.

Do you still have questions about how we use cookies? Feel free to contact us at privacy@picnic.nl or our Data Protection Officer at DPO@picnic.nl.
